From the comfort of a beach side cabina set in the lush jungle landscape, you will hear the waves on the beach and the calming sounds of the tropical forest. Each cabina has a view of the jungle and private bathrooms with hot water showers.
There is a tropical swimming pool to bathe and swim or just read in a hammock, or enjoy the view from the beach, all a few steps outside your cabina. The lush green jungle surroundings, met by the blue ocean views provide the ambiance for you to “let go” and unwind.
There are twin , double or private room options. Check-in time is at 1pm and checkout is 11am.
Our new beach location which hosts our yoga retreats is Calala Beach Lodge located next to the beach and completely surrounded by tropical jungle gardens . Once you step onto the grounds, you will be engulfed in the sounds, sights and smells of the forest and ocean butterflies and humming birds fly endlessly From the songs of the tropical birds and monkeys, to the sight of the waves lapping on the beach, to the smell of ocean and tropical flowers, the atmosphere will relax and soothe you.

Cabuya
Our choice of location is the magical village of Cabuya an authentic fishing village surrounded by the jungles of the Cabo blanco nature reserve and the Pacific Ocean where female humpback whales choose to give birth yearly , this says it all about this beautiful blue zone location , clean waters , great air and vibrant nature an oasis of beauty and a perfect place to relax mentally, physically recharge and live and experience a village community and blue zone pace of life and lifestyle.

The village is easily assessable from the beach lodge by walking or cycling and the coast road Leeds to a variety of amazing beaches along the coast to Montezuma. Walking or cycling north along the scenic, beach or county road you reach the estuary of the majestic Rio Lajas. A lagoon has formed at the estuary which is amazing for bathing. You can also wade through the river to find natural jacuzzis & small waterfalls and watch a multitude of birds like » flamingos, herons and kingfishers.
A natural monument in Costa Rica is found close to the Rio Lajas known as the tree El Higueron its impossible to miss due to its large size its an award winning tree and its awarded as the largest and most exceptional in Costa Rica.
Cabuya has a popular hot spot for surfing and another good surf spot is at playa Los Cedros a sandy tropical beach ideal for bathing and swimming too.
You can also visit by foot from the beach lodge at low tide Cemetery Island a native sacred island located in the pacific ocean, the waters around the island are ideal for bathing and snorkeling.
A picturesque coastal landscape ensues all the way from Cabuya to Montezuma a route of sandy stretches of beach where you can bathe and swim.
The village of Cabuya hosts a number of good cafes and restaurants with live music nights some evenings at the Salon Higheron which also serves international & blue zone cuisine.

MEALS
A delicious blue zone breakfast of Gallo pinto, local fruit (papaya, mangos, pineapples), fresh yogurt, fresh juices, cereal, coffee or tea, eggs, toast with jam and honey is served after yoga practice each day and on the morning of departure day.
Three Delicious dinners including dessert and fresh juices, healthy blue zone cuisine recipes are included in the price.
The food is blue zone cuisine mainly vegetarian and vegan but includes some local fresh fish dishes. The food is locally-sourced.
The lodge also has a cafe restaurant located next to the pool where food and drinks are served during the day.
Yoga
Yoga and meditation classes are daily with 90 minute morning yoga classes everyday except arrival and departure days and afternoon classes before dinner .

Yoga is held on a wooden deck right on beach with the sounds of waves and sunrise each day , the yoga practice area is surrounded by palm trees and tropical gardens where Mother Nature reveals her splender with a variety of beautiful birds , butterflies , squirrels and monkey visits.

Holistic treatments are a major feature of Sunflower Retreats' path to wellness and complement the yoga we practice. We have a wide range of treatments, as in a spa, but we differ in that we use only natural, organic products and take a holistic approach in our sessions.
Treatments are conducted in a warm, safe, healing environment in a purpose built treatment shala on the resort surrounded by the sounds and beauty of nature.
Prices range from $30 to $100 per session, depending on your choice of treatment and duration. They are available every day except the arrival and departure day.

Cabuya has a popular surf and paddle board beach visited by many surf and paddle board enthusiasts.
Close by Montezuma reached along the coast road from Cabuya also beautiful beaches to visit with some of the best beaches Costa Rica has to offer.
Surf and paddle board rentals can be arranged at breakfast each morning. Surfing and Paddle boarding lessons for beginners cost from $50 for a 2-hours. Scuba diving is available too.

BOAT TRIPS & SNORKLING
Enjoy a wonderful boat tour from the fishing port of Cabuya on the Pacific coast where you can snorkel and scout for turtles, dolphins, manta rays, whales, and a variety seabirds. You can also hire kayaks direct from the lodge and explore for yourself , another amazing place for snorkling is at the Cabuya cemetery Island you can also reach the island by foot at low tide.
WALKS AND TREKS
There are plenty of individual walks that can be done directly from the Beach lodge either on the beaches or along the country roads of Cabuya.
If wanting a guided walk in the Cabo blanco nature reserve this can be arranged with a private guide who has a knowledge of the Nature reserve and vast range of Flora and Fauna .The walk is led by a guide through the private reserve which has abundant water sources and medicinal plants. Montezuma Waterfall Tour
We also arrange visits to close by famous Montezuma Waterfalls located in a tropical rainforest, guided tours can be booked each day at breakfast-time. We know you'll love a visit to the Butterfly Farm too . Tours from 20$ per person and include transport from and to beach lodge.

Included in the price of the Retreat is free use of bicycles. Cycling is a great way to discover the village of Cabuya and area.
SHOPPING AND DINING
There are a number of Cafe's and good restaurants in the village of Cabuya a short walk from the beach lodge and nearby Montezuma is a great place to shop with a range of boutiques and restaurants serving a range of Costa-Rican and international cuisine from local dishes to sushi.
