TRAVELING to Casperia
Flights
Our guests prefer to book their own flights; usually to either of Rome's two airports:
Leonardo Da Vinci Airport (sometimes known as 'Fiumicino') is used by the 'flag-carriers' and by EasyJet.
Ciampino Airport is used by low cost carriers usually from within Europe, including Ryanair, which offer some great deals.
Travelling from Rome Leonardo Da Vinci ('Fiumicino') airport
Casperia is located about two hours from Rome's airportsby public transport. The cheapest and easiest way to reach us from Fiumicino Airport is by the frequent train service to Poggio Mirteto Scalo station. You can take trains which terminate at either Poggio Mirteto Scalo or Orte.
Trains depart at 05.57, 06.57, 07.27, 07.57, 10.57 then at 27 and 57 minutes past each hour through to 19.57 with a last train at 21.12. The journey time is 97 minutes and the train fare is €11. Remember to frank your ticket before you board your train.

Once you arrive at Poggio Mirteto Scalo station, take the bus to Casperia which runs at 31 minutes past every hour from 12.31 to 20.31.
Check with the bus driver that the waiting bus is for Casperia and then buy your ticket (€1.50) at the station bar. The driver will wait for you. Please be quick as you leave the train, to avoid missing the bus.

We recommend that you plan your journey to arrive in Casperia between 12.00 and 17.00.
Poggio Mirteto Pick-up Service
If you are arriving by train and would like to be collected by a shuttle service at Poggio Mirteto Scalo for the 15Km journey to Casperia, please complete the booking form below.
The cost for this service is €20 for one person and €10 per person for two or more people .

Travelling to Casperia from Rome Ciampino airport
You can either travel to Casperia by coach and train or arrange to be collected.
Travel by coach and train is in 4 steps:
Low-cost carriers sell tickets on-board for the coach service from Ciampino to the city centre which will drop you beside Roma Termini station
Travel from Termini to Tiburtina station (4 stops) on the Metro 'B' line. Don't forget to frank your ticket before you board.
Take the train from Tiburtina as far as Poggio Mirteto Scalo on the Orte line. They depart roughly every 30 minutes. Full train timetables are available on www.trenitalia.com, selecting English and using and ‘Roma Tiburtina’ and ‘Poggio Mirteto’ as your stations.
Take the local bus from Poggio Mirteto Scalo station to Casperia which runs at 31 minutes past every hour from 12.31 to 20.31. Check with the bus driver that the waiting bus is for Casperia and then buy your ticket (€1.50) at the station bar. The driver will wait for you. Costs
1 person: €150
2 people: €75/person
3 people: €60/person

For this service please inform us of your groups flight arrival date and time and the number of passengers one week before your departure. Book using the link to the form below and we will confirm your booking. The cost of our service is much less than that of an airport taxi, which is typically €200 -€250.
Having a mobile phone which works abroad is helpful, so that if the driver is delayed our Italy office can contact you to let you know. Please let us know the number using the form , Please note if you have an early arrival before 9am or departure before 9am there is a 30 euro increase in costs.
Late arrivals
If you are delayed, or if you need to arrive later than 17.00, it is important to call us, either before or on the day of arrival, to tell us what time you expect to arrive.
If we do not hear from you by 17.00, our staff may assume that you are not arriving.
Meeting our representative when you arrive in Casperia
If you have a mobile phone please call or text Whatsapp 0039 339 7043595 when you are on the bus from Poggio Mirteto station, or 15 minutes before you arrive.
When you arrive in Casperia, please wait at the little Blue Bar for Sunflower Retreats' representative to greet you and escort you to your accommodation. If you do not have a mobile phone, please go to the Blue Bar and ask for Sunflower Retreats or Alan Scheda and the bar staff will contact our representative for you.
If necessary, your luggage can be brought up to your accommodation for you by a member of our staff.
Security
Finally, do take the usual precautions that you would when passing through a city as a tourist; be aware of the people around you, avoid distractions and keep your possessions close at hand.
Hiring a car
Car hire is available at both airports. We suggest booking Hertz, Europcar, or other leading European companies from the UK. Car hire can be useful for guests who would like to be independent and make their own way to restaurants and local attractions.
Directions by car
From Rome airports, take the Grande Raccordo Annulare ring-road (also known as the 'GRA') following signs for Firenze A1.
Take the A1 motorway north for 40Km.
Exit at the Ponzano Romano junction - a small toll is payable.
Follow the signs to Cantalupo in Sabina (12Km), then to Casperia (5Km)
Travelling from Casperia to your airport on the day of departure.
A continental breakfast is served at 08.40 for guests leaving on Monday and Wednesday.
A free shuttle bus to Poggio Mirteto station is provided. It leaves at 09.00 and arrives in time to catch the 09.40 train which terminates at Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) airport at 11.20. If you wish to go to Poggio Mirteto later than 09.00, then our transport is available at a cost of £15 per-person.
